Captain Nightcap does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your personal data. Everything you enter into the app — your name, your sleep schedule, your method preferences, your sleep log — stays on your phone. We don't run analytics, we don't use ad networks, and we don't have a server that your data is sent to. There is no account to create and no sign-in.
JumbleLabs (the company behind Captain Nightcap) does not collect any data from you through this app. Specifically, we do not collect, and have no access to:
The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, and no advertising SDK of any kind.
All information you enter into Captain Nightcap — your schedule, your methods, your sleep log, your settings — is stored locally on your device only, using your device's local app storage. It is never transmitted to JumbleLabs, to any third party, or to any cloud server. We simply don't have a backend that your data could go to.
If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this information is permanently deleted from your device. We cannot recover it, because we never had a copy.
Captain Nightcap requests only the device permissions it needs to reliably wake your phone and show you the nightly pill-choice screen and step timers, even when your screen is locked or the app has been closed from recent apps. These include notification permissions and alarm/full-screen-intent permissions used by Android to deliver time-sensitive alerts. The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, location, or any other device permission unrelated to scheduling and showing these alerts.
Because we don't collect any data in the first place, there is nothing for us to share, sell, or disclose to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties. We have no business relationships that involve your information, because your information never reaches us.
Captain Nightcap includes an optional export/import feature that lets you save a backup of your data as a file. This file is created and stored using your own device's file system or wherever you choose to save it (for example, your own cloud storage app). JumbleLabs has no access to this file and no role in where you choose to store it. Importing a backup is entirely your action, performed locally on your device.
Captain Nightcap does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data from any user. The app is not specifically directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and have concerns, you're welcome to contact us using the details below, though there is no personal data on any server for us to access or delete on your behalf — all data lives only on the device it was entered on.
Since all your data stays on your device, you are always in full control of it:
There's no account to delete and no request to send us, because we don't hold a copy of anything to begin with.
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds an optional feature that involves data leaving your device — we'll update this page and change the "Last updated" date above. We'd only ever add such a feature if it were optional and clearly explained at the point you choose to use it.
